The Government has some big decisions to make in the coming weeks. Will it increase investment to improve pay, quality, and accessibility? Or will it allow the staffing crisis to turn into an emergency? To seek answers to these questions SIPTU is meeting with politicians to talk about our demands for Budget 2024.

We are calling for politicians to support our five priorities in October's budget.

They are:

·      Improved pay to address the staffing crisis.

·      Professional development to support quality for children.

·      Expanding AIM for children with additional needs.

·      Tackling disadvantages with a new DEIS-style model

·      Examine public provision to operate alongside private provision.

Provider Protest

Some educators and managers have contacted SIPTU in relation to a proposed provider protest in September. SIPTU is not involved in this provider protest, and we are not asking members to participate.

If your service is closing and you are available to work, you should be paid as normal for that day.

If you need any advice or support, please contact your local SIPTU organiser or email us at bigstart@siptu.ie.
